About ACTS
|
With a deep honor and reverence for both people and animals, ACTS Animals Called to Service works diligently to provide custom and quality animal rescue, training, and adoption service.
ACTS Animals Called to Service is a nationwide program developed by Native Nation, a Native American non-profit religious organization. We provide adoption services for people seeking a rescue pet, we accept owner surrenders, and at the heart of what we do we honor our veterans and train PTSD Service Animals for those with post-traumatic stress disorder. We offer service animals and emotional support animals for children, veterans, active-duty military, and people who are seeking to enhance their lives with a rescued service animal. The ACTS team operates in order to honor and foster the symbiotic relationship between people and animals. |

What is Pet Transport?
Pet transport is the transfer of adoptable pets from over-populated areas to regions of the U.S. where demand for adoptable pets is high. The ultimate goal of pet transport operations is to address the imbalance in the supply and demand of pets nationwide.
Pet Transport option on Petfinder:
Petfinder has seen a growing population of rescues and individuals who are moving pets out of areas with limited resources and low demand for pets, predominantly in the southern United States, posting them for adoption prior to their transport, and in some cases, adopting pets prior to meeting their adopters, then transporting them to the adoptive home.
In an effort to support the changing landscape of pet transport in the animal welfare industry, Petfinder has updated its search criteria to allow potential adopters to decide if transport pets are of interest to them. By including transport pets in their search results, potential adopters see a wider range of pets available to them. Not all will currently reside in their geographic region, however.

What should I ask about a transport pet?
With the changing face of pet transport groups, it is important to be an informed adopter when you are in the market to adopt.
Is the transport fee included in the out-of-state adoption fee?
No, the donation for delivery for out-of-state adoptions is $1250 in addition to the $550 adoption application for a total of $1800 and it is paid at the time of finalizing an adoption.
Are fees paid in full at the point of adoption, or will additional fees be due when the pet arrives?
Adoption Donations and Delivery Donations, if applicable, are paid in full at the point of adoption. Click here to submit a donation.
How do you transport your pets?
After an adoption is finalized, if you require your new companion to be transported, we will schedule a ground transport or book a flight on your behalf. We will submit the request for a flight within 24 hours of adoption. We will email you a flight confirmation within 5 days of shipment. We offer air cargo shipping via www.runwaypets.com
Ground tranports arrive in Hagarstown, MD, Vauxhall, NJ, Rye, NY, CT, and Warwick, RI. You will meet the transporter at a centralized location to pick up your new companion.
Transport for pets typically takes two to three weeks, and the process depends on acceptable weather conditions, veterinary booking schedules, and availability of volunteer transporters.
Veterinary care for Transport Pets:
All transport pets will have a veterinary health certificate to travel across state lines. This will certify that the pet is in good health and is safe to travel.
All pets in a transport program will be spayed or neutered prior to transport.
All transported pets will have age appropriate vaccinations prior to transport.
We are able to confirm that the pet is traveling with a complete veterinary history that contains the date and type of care administered. You will receive these records electronically through petstablished.com prior to the transport of the animal.
